Astro commissioned us to create content for their channel during Merdeka and Malaysia Day period to celebrate their theme of ‘Kita Teguh Bersama’ (We are stringer together)
The theme of ‘togetherness’ at a time when we are so divided as a nation due to partisan politics using the race and religion card, we decided to reclaim the true and ‘seldom heard of anymore’ story of a multi-race and belief bunch of troops that sacrificed much for our freedom. We took a line from the national anthem and changed the word ‘darahku’ to ‘darah kita’ implying it’s a ‘we’ story, not an ‘I’ story. We then got Red Hong Yi to collect soil from battle sites to paint this story to life and featured it in our documentary.
