The Malayan tiger is now officially listed as Critically Endangered in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Commercial poaching for tiger meat has increased rapidly over the years.

WWF recognizes the threat of our Malayan Tiger’s extinction rate and in conjunction with famous brands in Malaysia that uses tigers as their symbols, mascot and name like Maybank, Kuat Harimau, Tiger Sugar, Tiger Biscuit and Tiger Balm, the campaign will replace the tigers with a cat instead. The purpose of replacing it with a cat is to show how the public would be shocked as a publicity stunt because tigers are a representation of strength and power in contrast to cats. Social media accounts of the participating brands will be changed and tiger-related awareness posts will be posted for the public to learn more about this issue.
